1. Hello from Indonesia
--------------------

Selamat pagi! (Good morning).

I am presently in Jakarta, Indonesia writing this newsletter, and have compiled quite a bit of material for a course in accelerated Indonesian vocab.

It has been a good exercise for me to see how effective the use of Memory Triggers is.

I find that by having learned a word with a Memory Trigger, it is so much easier to remember the word a few weeks later when the word crops up when someone says it, or when one reads it somewhere, whether it be in the newspaper, on a poster, on the TV. This applies particularly when you have not come across the word since learning it.

It simply confirms my (already devout) faith in the use of Memory Triggers and cartoons for rapid vocabulary building in language-learning.

... and that applies to whether one is learning Spanish, French, German, Welsh or Swahili...

Of course, added to this the Gender Triggers used in the 200 Words a Day system for the aforementioned European languages, makes them even more powerful for long-term retention, especially in the learning phase, before one has had the chance to hear the words and phrases in real conversational action.

1.1. You can now get automatic advice of updates to the 200 Words a Day website
--------------------

Yes, if you want instant notification of any changes to the 200 Words a Day website, you can now easily do so by clicking on one of our little RSS buttons. They are the group of little orange buttons, one called 'RSS' and one called 'XML' on the top of each webpage on the left side above the Menu Bar. (They both do the same thing).

It is simple.

By clicking on these buttons, and following the easy instructions, you will get a message the instant any webpage is added, or updated.

Do not be afraid of these seemingly high-tech sounding inventions. There is a little explanation available by clicking on the words 'What's an RSS feed?' under the orange buttons.

Click to get an automatic message for updates on our site - RSS/XML.

I recommend it.

3. French Tip: Some people just need a NUDGE to learn to swim.
--------------------

If you can imagine giving someone a NUDGE into the pool, you will remember the French word for the verb 'to swim'… Click for your French cartoon tip, on tipping into the pool for a swim.

--------------------
4. German Tip: Smoking dogs carry their baggage.
--------------------

To remember the German word for 'baggage' we give you a picture of smoking dogs with their PACKS leaving a train. The smoking dogs will help you remember the gender of this word. Click for a cartoon Memory Trigger to remember the German word for 'baggage'.
