Spanish Verb PERDER: to lose

The Spanish verb perder means 'to lose' and is an irregular Spanish ER verb.

To remember this, imagine a lady who has lost her earrings says, "I think I lost the PAIR 'DERE!"

Spanish verb perder - lose perder can also mean: to miss, to fail, to leak.
perderse : to get lost.


Spanish to lose is perder la perdición (nf): ruin, downfall
la pérdida: loss.
la perdida: loose woman, streetwalker.
perdedor, ora: loser, losing.


Spanish for lose is perder No tiene pérdida: You can't miss it.
Es un buen/mal perdedor: He is a good/bad loser
perdidamente enamorado: hopelessly in love.
Llegas tarde, para no perder la costumbre! You are late, just for a change! (so as not to lose the habit!)

you informal vos replaces - you, informal, singular -
- in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and also in some countries of Central America.
Sometimes it also replaces the formal singular 'Usted'.
In irregular ER verbs, the conjugations remain the same as for except for the addition of accents in the following tenses:
Presente:      vos perdés
Imperativo:  ¡perdé!
