Spanish Verb PREFERIR: to prefer

The Spanish verb preferir means 'to prefer' and is an irregular Spanish IR verb.

To remember this, imagine you PREFER 'ERE to there!

Spanish verb preferir - prefer preferir algo a algo: to prefer something to something.
preferir que + subjunctive : to prefer to .
la preferencia (nf): preference, precedence, priority.

Spanish to prefer is preferir preferentemente (adv): preferably.
preferido/a (adj m/f): favorite.
el preferido / la preferida (nm/f): favorite.
preferible (adj): preferable, better.

Spanish for prefer is preferir ser preferible a algo/+ infinitive: to be preferable to something/-ing.
el preferido de la maestra: the teacher's pet.
Tengo preferencia por el más pequño: The youngest one is my favorite.
Prefiero esperar en casa: I'd rather wait at home.

you informal vos replaces - you, informal, singular -
- in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and also in some countries of Central America.
Sometimes it also replaces the formal singular 'Usted'.
In irregular IR verbs, the conjugations remain the same as for except for the addition of accents in the following tenses:
Presente:      vos preferís
Imperativo:  ¡preferí!
