USING the SPANISH VERB prometer

prometer can also mean: to be promising, to show promise.
prometerse (vr): to promise oneself; to get engaged; expect.
prometersélas muy felices: to have high hopes.

Cupli (con) mi promesa: I kept my promise.
romper una promesa: to break a promise.

prometido/a (adj/pp): promised, engaged.
el prometido / la prometida (nm/f): fiancé/e (promised one).
Lo prometido es deuda: A promise is a promise.
(dueda = debt)

vos replaces tú - you, informal, singular -
- in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and also in some countries of Central America.
Sometimes it also replaces the formal singular 'Usted'.
In regular ER verbs, the conjugations remain the same as for tú except for the addition of accents in the following tenses:
Presente: vos prometés
