Spanish Verb VIVIR: to live

The Spanish verb vivir means 'to live' and is a regular Spanish IR verb.

To remember this, imagine VIV lives ERE in VIVID colours!

Around 250 verbs are conjugated like vivir, and for the month of April a new regular IR verb is featured each day to enable you to consolidate the IR verb family. You will learn other verbs such as admitir, consumir, cubrir, disuadir, subir and many others.

Spanish verb vivir - live Vivir can also mean: to be alive.
vivir en paz: to live in peace.
vivir para algiuen / algo: to live for someone/something.
vivir de la caridad: to live on charity.
vivir de ilusiones: to live on dreams/hopes.

Spanish to live is vivir vivir solo: to live alone.
vivir con los padres: to live at home.
Vivo/a (adj): alive, living; vivacious, lively, bright; intense, vivid (colours).
sobrevivir (v): to survive, to outlive.

Spanish for live is vivir el vivir (nm): life.
de mal vivir: undesirable, disreputable, (bad life).
vive y deja (vivir): live and let live.
¿Quién vive? Who is/goes there?

you informal vos replaces - you, informal, singular -
- in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and also in some countries of Central America.
Sometimes it also replaces the formal singular 'Usted'.
In regular IR verbs, the conjugations remain the same as for except for the addition of accents in the following tenses:
Presente:      vos vivís
Imperativo:  ¡viví!
