Spanish Verb ALZAR: to lift

The Spanish verb alzar means 'to lift' and is an irregular Spanish ZAR verb.

To remember this, imagine you lift AL the TSAR!

        USING the SPANISH VERB ALZAR      

Spanish verb alzar - to lift alzar can also mean: to raise, to pick up, to put up.
alzarse: to get up, to rise; to rise up (rebel).
alzado/a (adj): raised, lifted; in/on heat (animals); uppity, cocky (coll).

Spanish to lift is alzar el alza (nf): the rise.
el alzamiento (nm): uprising.
l'alzada (nf): height (horse); elevation.
el alzado (nm): elevation.
los alzados (nmpl): rebels, insurgents.

Spanish for to lift is alzar el alza de los precios: the rise in price
jugar al alza: to speculate on a rising market
un artista en alza: an up-and-coming artist
alzar la mirada: to look up

you informal vos replaces - you, informal, singular -
- in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and also in some countries of Central America.
Sometimes it also replaces the formal singular 'Usted'.
In irregular ZAR verbs, the conjugations remain the same as for except for the addition of accents in the following tenses:
