Spanish Verb FINGIR: to fake

The Spanish verb fingir means 'to fake' and is an irregular Spanish IR verb.

To remember this, imagine faking a FIN with home-made FIN GEAR!

Around 30 verbs are conjugated like fingir, and for the first part of October a new irregular IR verb is featured each day to enable you to consolidate this IR verb family. You will learn other verbs such as dirigir, exigir, fingir, infligir, restringir and many others.

        USING the SPANISH VERB FINGIR      

Spanish verb fingir - fake fingir can also mean: to feign, to pretend (insincere); to imitiate.
fingir + infinitive: to pretend to do something.


Spanish to fake is fingir fingirse (vr): to pretend to be.
Fingió estar muerto y se salvó de la balacera:: He pretended to be dead and survived the shooting.

Spanish for fake is fingir fingido (pp/adj): feigned / fake, pretend, false, hypocritical.

you informal vos replaces - you, informal, singular -
- in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and also in some countries of Central America.
Sometimes it also replaces the formal singular 'Usted'.
In irregular IR verbs, the conjugations remain the same as for except for the addition of accents in the following tenses:
Presente:      vos fingís
Imperativo:  ¡fingí!
