French Verb lower: baisser (also to reduce, bring down ...)

faire baisser les yeux: to stare;
baisser les yeux: to lower one's eyes;
baisser la tête: lower one's head; to duck the head; to hang one's head e.g. in shame, in sorrow;
baisser les bras: to drop one's arms; which colloquially means to cave in, to yield, to give up;
s'abaisser: to demean oneself.
s'abaisser: to lower oneself - for example to lower oneself slowly into the bathtub, or into a swimming pool. To carefully lower yourself into a manhole for example.
