I spent many years trying to learn French,started in school, then several years at evening classes. kept trying but to no avail, because everyone taught with written work and lots of grammar to learn I just couldn't get it.
What Michel said made complete sense -
children learn to talk a long while before learning to read, and those who are unable to read can still talk.
As soon as I started with these discs I began to speak French starting with talking to myself whilst driving etc. Late in life, when I was about 63 I moved to Brittany for 5 years and could hold my own in conversations with neighbors and friends (French born).
I am now 70 and a about to start learning German, again with Michel Thomas.
