200 Words a Day! Write Error

"When I do lessons, or when I do quizzes it does not seem to record the fact in my schedule. I do the things it prompts me, and then nothing changes ... it still says I need to do the same thing again and again."

Answer:
Your database is reading the database but not writing to it.
(a very strange occurrence for either Microsoft XP or Vista)

Firstly, if you are using Windows Vista ...

• Open Computer (from the Start Menu) and navigate to C:\Program Files\Exceltra\French (This is the where it will be by default) or whatever language you've installed the programme)
  
  
• Right click the file French.exe (or other language.exe)
  
  
• On the dropdown menu, click the Compatibility tab at the top of the window.
  
  
• Select Compatibility Mode - Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows XP.
  
  
• Select Privilege Level - Run this program as an Administrator
  
  
• Click OK.

To correct the "Write Error" Problem on all Versions of Windows

• Using Start \ My Computer (Vista has dropped the "My" prefix and simply calls it "Computer").
  
  
• Navigate to C:\Program Files\Exceltra\French*. This is the default location - or navigate to where you have saved the software. (*the language you have installed)
  
  
• Right-click the file Exceltra French.mdb (or appropriate language)
  
  
• Select Properties.
  
  
• Near the foot of the Properties Window, is a box Attributes - Read Only. This will have a tick against the item.
  
  
• Untick the item (by clicking the tick).
  
  
• Click OK.

The 200 Words a Day! software will now function correctly.
