These are TRADITIONAL LEARNING type lessons, and are very thorough and indepth. We intend modernising them, but that is a big job, and will take many months. The 200 Words a Day! courses are a perfect complement to the FSI courses, as they will allow you rocket ahead with your vocabulary learning.

(Or if you wish you can register for both FSI French Course Volume Units 1-7 and 8-12 at the same time).

But we recommend just taking your time... It is like eating an elephant... you can only do it bit by bit, bite by bite, chew, swallow, digest.

FSI Learn French Course Volume 2 has two parts also.

  1. Units 13 - 20, plus Introduction and vocabulary list
(7 free email French course lessons each sent every 3 days)

Follow these simple steps to enjoy your FSI Learn French Lessons by Email Course

Here's what to do:
  1. Register for the free Foreign Service Institute French course.
  2. You will be sent a confirmation email.
  3. Opt-in - (click on the link) at the beginning of the email. This double confirmation ensures that you are approving us to send you these emails.
  4. Download the pages (.pdf) by right-clicking the LINK in each email and clicking 'Save Target As' to save the files to a directory on your computer.
  5. Download the sound recordings (.mp3) by right-clicking and click 'Save Target as' and save them in the same directory on your computer. You'll need a player like Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, Quicktime one of which most computers have.(There are other free players too).
  6. Print the pages out and put them into a big ring-binder.
  7. Use dividers from your stationery shop to divide each lesson.
  8. Work through the lessons, reading the text, and listening to the sound files on your computer's mp3 player, iPod, etc.
  9. Of course you can print more than one copy of each lesson, or of certain pages enabling you to scribble and write all over them.
  10. To listen to the sound files away from your computer you can save the mp3 files to an iPod, or other portable device. You can even burn them to a CD so that it can play on a CD player, enabling you to listen to the lessons in your car, or on the train.
  11. When you have finished each set of 7 email lessons, register for the next set of 7 (Volume 1 units 8-12 plus vocabulary), and then again for Units 13-24.
Just to remind you that each of the sets of courses come in batches of 7 emails, and you have to re-register for each new batch of 7 emails. We do this to ensure that people are using the lessons that they download, rather than just downloading all the lessons at once, and then not using them. Downloading uses a great deal of bandwidth with our Internet Service Providers (and costs us!).
